Scarlet-chested Parrot

In June we visited the Marsupial Park in Tamworth. In the aviary we spotted a pair of Scarlet-chested Parrots. What a colourful little parrot! Some nice video was taken of this fairly rare species.

Last week we made a special trip to Barraba in search of the Turquoise Parrot. We stayed in the Playhouse Hotel where we were treated exceptionally well. We were able to pick movies of our choice every night to be viewed in the theatre and the food was fantastic. Near Upper Horton we finally found the elusive parrot but very little quality video was obtained. They are very flighty little fellas!

On our way back to Armidale we called in at Warrabah NP. What a peaceful place to spend timeĀ  birdwatching, bushwalking, picnicing, etc. We startled a pair of Turquoise Parrots as we approached the river. They were never seen again. So quality video of this parrot still awaits us. I guess another visit to the Playhouse Hotel is hardly a hardship.
