Trip to Merrifield and Gwydir Park Rd TSR

Fan-tailed Cuckoo

Last Sunday I travelled to Merrifield and Gwydir Park Rd TSR, between Armidale and Bundarra, with my friend Peter. I was able to add 17 new birds to my list for the year. Now have 132 for the year.

Bird list for the day:

Noisy Friarbird, Musk Lorikeet, Little Lorikeet, Shining Bronze-Cuckoo, Noisy Minor, Speckled Warbler, Willie Wagtail, Peaceful Dove, Jacky Winter, Fuscous Honeyeater, Striped Honeyeater, White-plumed Honeyeater, Rainbow Bee-Eater, Black-fronted Dotterel, Grey Goshawk, Fan-tailed Cuckoo, Brown Treecreeper, Spotted Pardalote, Dusky Woodswallow, Magpie-Lark, Australian Magpie, Torresian Crow, Grey Teal, Welcome Swallow, Eastern Yellow Robin, Crimson Rosella, Eastern Rosella, Diamond Firetail, Grey Butcherbird, Pied Butcherbird, Black-faced Cuckoo-Shrike, Australian Wood Duck, Superb Fairy-Wren, Grey Fantail, Red-browed Fich, Galah, Common Myna, Red-rumped Parrot, Rufous Whistler, Rufous Songlark. Also saw Eurasian Coot (2 young), Black Swan, Wandering Whistling-Duck (6 young), Purple Swamphen, Pacific Black Duck and Australasian Grebe (2 young) at a lake on the way home.

Not bad for a morning!!
